Jogja National Museum is Yogyakarta's first contemporary art gallery and museum. It was established by Yayasan Yogyakarta Seni Nusantara, a non-profit foundation dedicated to the conservation and development of various forms of art and culture, including visual arts, performing arts, and multimedia arts.

JNM is committed to conserving and developing cultural art at both local and national levels. Its focus is on providing alternative spaces to showcase Indonesia’s contemporary visual art, while fostering discourse and comprehensive discussions on the nation’s visual art achievements.

The Jogja National Museum offers a diverse range of programs aimed at promoting art and culture. Regular visual art exhibitions are a key activity, organized either by JNM, individual or group artists, or art institutions through the YYSN/JNM framework. JNM also focuses on supporting young, emerging artists, providing them with opportunities to refine their skills and showcase their work, thereby contributing to the global recognition of Indonesia’s art scene.
