The Back Room is an independent, alternative space for intimate exhibitions that aims to connect art based in Malaysia.
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”5px”][vc_column_text]The Back Room believes that art should be part of everyday life—not just something found in galleries or exclusive events. It belongs in small apartments, on work desks, and in the spaces people move through every day.
Art is a way of connecting with the world. Whether it’s a personal project or a response to bigger social issues, it’s a living, ongoing process.
Community is also central to what The Back Room does. Located in the Zhongshan Building, it’s part of a wider group of artists, makers, and creatives who live, work, and grow together. This sense of connection and collaboration shapes the way The Back Room works and thinks about art.
